Abraham Kahan and The Forward
While not as prolific as many other Yiddish writers, Kahan is noteable for starting a socialist Yiddish newspaper called the Arbiter Zeiten (the "Worker's Times") in 1877, which later became the Yiddish Forward, a publication that still exists today. While he earned a reputation as a tyrant who limited the publication of budding writers, Kahan did give the controversial and revolutionary author Isaac Beshevitz-Singer his first break.
