Yiddish may be seeing its twilight as a language, but for two centuries, hundreds of authors have poured out their heart, soul, and wisdom - not just about about the Jewish experience, but about history, politics, love, hate, life, death...pretty much everything that Western Literature speaks of, but from their own unique perspective. Preserving Yiddish as a language is vital, or else we loose the wisdom of the hundreds of fantastic authors whose books now sit dusty and unread.
For Jews, especially Ashkenazic Jews, our identity isn't complete if we forget this part of our heritage. For scholars of language and literature, Yiddish is a hot study topic (for reasons explained elsewhere on my page). And for anyone, learning about this culture can be fun and fascinating. I hope this page peaks your interest.
